Congratulations Raleigh on making the best first impression possible. So many movies the male character meets the female character through some misunderstanding or she hates him to begin with because she doesn’t “get” him. Raleigh is a perfect gentleman from the first second. HE SPEAKS JAPANESE. Like somewhere along the line he learned Japanese well enough to converse in it (and he’s already said that he and Yancy weren’t really good students, so this boy put some effort into this at some point). And he lets her know that he can keep up with her, but without really embarrassing her. His better or worse comment is disarming and his expression is completely charmed that he caught her judging him. So she’s already modifying her opinion of him by the second to last gif (and he succeeded in making her smile). And rather than laugh and swagger off, he gives her a very respectful nod, an acknowledgement of her culture rather than his. Everything about Raleigh focuses on Mako rather than himself.

FYI if people submit anything to the Collective site, read the fine print. MTV owns whatever you submit after it is on that site and can reproduce it without your permission. Fair warning.

3) MTV reserves the right to review any submitted User Content and to delete, remove, move, edit or reject, without notice to you

4)In connection with all User Content you submit using the User Content Submission Features, you grant to MTV, the Parent Companies and the Affiliates, the unqualified, unrestricted, unconditional, unlimited, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual and royalty free right, license, authorization and permission, in any form or format, on or through any media or medium and with any technology or devices now known or hereafter developed or discovered, in whole or in part, to host, cache, store, maintain, use, reproduce, distribute, display, exhibit, perform, publish, broadcast, transmit, modify, prepare derivative works of, adapt, reformat, translate, and otherwise exploit all or any portion of your User Content on the Site (regardless of the Device through which the Site may be accessed) and any other channels, services, and other distribution platforms, whether currently existing or existing or developed in the future, of MTV, the Parent Companies and the Affiliates (collectively, the “Platforms”), for any purpose whatsoever (including, without limitation, for any promotional purposes) without accounting, notification, credit or other obligation to you, and the right to license and sub-license and authorize others to exercise any of the rights granted hereunder to MTV.

5) By submitting User Content, in addition to the rights, licenses and privileges referred to above, you are also granting MTV, the Parent Companies and the Affiliates, the unqualified, unrestricted, unconditional, unlimited, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual and royalty free right, license, authorization and permission to use and refer to your name, logo, marks, image, characteristic or other distinctive identification in presentations, marketing materials, customer lists and financial reports, to do, perform, take advantage of and exploit any and all of the rights set forth herein in connection with the marketing, advertising and promotion of the Platforms, and any products, goods, features, functions, capabilities and/or services associated with MTV

What this means in plain english is that anything you submit to the Teen Wolf collective can be taken, used, changed in whatever way that they wish without accounting, notification, credit or other obligation to you.

In other words. ANYTHING that put submit to it, whether it is an AU, a pairing, a setting or an OC can be stolen by Jeff Davis and MTV and used in whatever way they like. Such as changing the sexuality/race/gender/ name of your OC or a sterek pairing into a Stalia pairing. Your setting of a historical AU into them being king and queen of the prom. Without ever so much as acknowledging that you even existed let alone were the original creator of it.

They plan on using this to blatently steal your work and ideas, using the lawyerspeak in the terms and conditions, and the fact that NOBODY ever reads them to get away with their theft.

Do NOT use The Collective, unless you wish to have your hard work stolen by MTV. I suggest keeping your fanwork here on Tumblr, because you know damn well that they’re going to change things to fit their “image”.
